The initiative on the introduction of the Children's Book Day in Ukraine and the development of the State target program to support children's books and reading in Ukraine.

Yesterday, on the birthday of Vsevolod Nestayko, the National Library of Ukraine held a round table for children "Children's book in Ukraine". The participants of the meeting, including representatives of the authorities, creative, public and charitable organizations, artists and book publishers, including Ranok publishing house, initiated the appearance of another holiday in the calendar: January 30 — Children's Book Day in Ukraine.

Yesterday, on the birthday of Vsevolod Nestayko, the National Library of Ukraine held a round table for children "Children's book in Ukraine". The participants of the meeting, including representatives of the authorities, creative, public and charitable organizations, artists and book publishers, including Ranok publishing house, initiated the appearance of another holiday in the calendar: January 30 — Children's Book Day in Ukraine.

During the meeting, they also discussed the importance of Ukrainian children's books for the country's national security, the importance of state support for the book publishing industry, libraries and book distributors during the war, proposals were put forward to complete the national program of support for children's books, which was proposed to be developed and adopted by the end of 2023.
In addition to new initiatives, there was also a call for the implementation of Law No. 2313-IX on book certificates for children and teenagers and subsidies for Ukrainian bookstores.

We are convinced that the book is something that will help us in the fight for the Ukrainian identity of children, and therefore for the future of Ukraine.
The participants of the round table supported the Public Initiative to the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Ukraine regarding the declaration of January 30 as Children's Book Day in Ukraine.

Mykola Tomenko raised the problem of closing libraries in territorial communities, revising state policy to increase the role of social advertising of books and reading.
